Research reveals that almost every third cancer case is related to such choices.
Gry Ekeberg Rodin, course coordinator in th Norwegian Cancer Society states that «all kinds of activity can reduce your risk».
And it doesn’t have to involve extraordinary effort.
The Cancer Society recommends 30 minutes of intensive training or 60 minutes of moderate exercise every day. Regular exercise is especially important during puberty, when breast tissue is evolving, and after menopause, when breast cancer usually develops.
Why Exercise Reduce your risk
- Being overweight or obese is clearly linked with an increased risk of breast cancer, because arcinogenic substances can be stored in your body fat. Physical activity contributes to more muscles which improves your bodys overall ability to burn fat.
- Regular physical activity lead to a healthy level of hormones in the blood. This is important because high levels of some hormones can increase the risk of cancer.
- Blood circulation increases and harmful substances are removed more efficiently.
- Bowel movements are increased which makes food pass quicker through the large instentine. This shortens the time that potential carcinogenic chemicals in nutrition will stay in contact with the intestinal mucosa, which can explain the preventive effect.
- Exercise can also strengthen your immune system. This might have a connection to the fact that macrophages, a type of white blood cells that fight bacteria, increase and become more active when we are physically active. This also happens to the signaling molecules which can affect cell activities in a favorable way.
